A Trimmed Original Vintage Theatrical Chapter #11 (The Net) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 20" x 26" [51 x 66 cm]) (Learn More)

The Master Mystery, the 1919 Harry Grossman & Burton L. King silent mystery magic crime serial ("A super-serial"; "By Arthur B. Reeve and Charles A. Logue"; Houdini is an agent of the Justice Department, sent to investigate a bogus giant company, which is well guarded, especially with the help of a robot, in the movie called "The Automaton", which was the very first robot ever to appear in any movie!) starring Harry Houdini, Marguerite Marsh, Ruth Stonehouse, Edna Britton, and William Pike. Note that this serial movie was Houdini's first appearance in a movie, and the producers knew what his fans wanted, and almost every chapter ended with Houdini captured, and the next one began with him making an amazing escape. Note that for years it was thought that 13 of the 15 chapters of this movie survived. But it now seems that all of the chapters exist, although they are not all in one place (at the last time that I read). Two different archives have multiple chapters, and between them, they seem to have them all. The great magician Harry Houdini only appeared in this movie and four others, and none of those were serials. Movie paper of any kind from any of those five movies is incredibly rare!

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been heavily trimmed and it now measures 20" x 26" [51 x 66 cm]. Some theater (surely in 1919) took an example of this one-sheet (see a complete example HERE), and trimmed it to the central portion of the image, and they then added a small paper snipe at the bottom that read "HOUDINI". We auctioned a complete example of this one-sheet in 2018 for $15,831, and surely there are very few examples of this poster surviving! This incomplete one-sheet was sent to us with a piece of Plexiglas on top of it, and cardboard behind it, and we can send it to the buyer that way, or we could remove it from between the Plexiglas and cardboard and roll it in a tube. One could display this incomplete one-sheet as it is (perhaps with the Plexiglas that it was sent to us in), or of course, it could be nicely framed and matted. One can also absolutely have a top restorer recreate the rest of the poster and turn this incomplete poster into a complete one, and that will be the choice of the new owner of this poster, which surely can be purchased for a great discount from the price of the complete poster. After the auction closes, we will ask the high bidder to tell us how they want us to send it to them (either as it is, or rolled in a tube).

Condition: fair. As described above, the poster is heavily trimmed. It also has some tiny paper loss around the edges. Please read the above carefully before bidding on this incomplete poster.
