That's Mildred Pierce"; "Please don't tell anyone what Mildred Pierce did!"; "Based on the Novel by James M. Cain"; note that IMDB lists William Faulkner as an uncredited writer for this movie; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a working class woman who divorces her husband and starts a restaurant to support her teenage daughter, but things get very messy when her boyfriend becomes more interested in her daughter!) starring Joan Crawford (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Mildred Pierce; "the kind of girl who couldn't be hurt anymore!"), Jack Carson, Zachary Scott, Eve Arden (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Ann Blyth (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), and Bruce Bennett NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had tiny paper loss at some crossfolds. There were creases, small tears, and tiny areas of paper loss on some foldlines, with two 3" diagonal tears to the left of the center crossfold. There were pinholes, creases, smudges, and small areas of paper loss in the blank borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking.
