A Linenbacked French Advertising Poster (measures 31 1/4" x 47 1/4" [79 x 120 cm]) (Learn More) The Rapid, the circa 1930s French advertising poster encouraging people to use 'The Rapid', a metal cleaner that can get any metal as shiny and bright as the sun. This poster features great art by Dion of a woman holding a golden pot so bright that it's blinding the sun itself. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: R. Dion Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had many scuffs in the solid blue and black background areas, and some tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
