An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Night Cry, the 1926 Herman C. Raymaker German Shepherd silent canine dog melodrama starring Rin Tin Tin ("The Wonder Dog"; most famous of the movie dog stars, he was Warner Bros.' #1 star in their early lean years and the earnings from his movies kept the studio in the black!), John Harron, June Marlowe, Gayne Whitman, Heinie Conklin, Mary Louise Miller, and Don Alvarado. Note that you likely have never heard of male lead John Harron! He was one of ten children from an Irish family, and his older brother Robert was a silent star. But Robert died mysteriously in 1920, and John kind of "inherited" his career while still a teenager! But he didn't have the success of his older brother, although he made a number of movies in the 1920s. But the coming of sound meant his career was mostly over, although he continued in small roles. In 1939, he developed spinal meningitis, and died, and he was just 36, leaving a wife and young daughter. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two lobby cards from this movie, and we have never before auctioned this title card! Note that this card has been "gel backed". What does that mean? It means that a talented restorer backed the card onto a gel material, and they then performed restoration to the above defects, and then removed the gel backing, and afterward the card still looks and feels like an original card (and it is!), with no backing at all. Many collectors prefer this method of restoration to paperbacking or linenbacking, because with those methods the card no longer looks like it was not backed. Gel backing can't be used with cards that have major paper loss or other major defects, but for the cards it can be used on, it is really an excellent method of restoration! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. What IS gelbacking? Learn More Condition: good to very good. The card had paper loss in the top left blank corner extending into the background. It had tiny pinholes in the corners. Overall, the card was in good to very good condition prior to restoration. You can see slight signs of the restoration, but the card displays well! Learn More about condition grades
