An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Australian Daybill Movie Poster (measures approximately 13" x 30") (Learn More) Owen Wister's The Virginian, the 1946 Stuart Gilmore cowboy western (based on the world famous novel by Owen Wister, and the play by Kirk La Shelle & Owen Wister) starring Joel McCrea (in the title role as The Virginian), Brian Donlevy (as Trampas), Sonny Tufts, Barbara Britton, Fay Bainter, Tom Tully, Henry O'Neill, William Frawley, and Paul Guilfoyle. Note that few people are likely aware that this is not the second movie version of this novel (there was a famous one in 1929, starring Gary Cooper, but there had also been a previous version in 1923). This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!).
