Date Sold 12/14/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French Two-Panel "Double Grande" Movie Poster (2p; measures 59 1/2" x 85 1/4" [151 x 217 cm]; printed in 2 pieces) (Learn More) Les Millions de la Bonne (literally translates to "The Maid's Millions"), the 1913 Louis Feuillade French silent comedy short (about a maid who supposedly inherits a fortune and her employers do her work to curry favor) starring Madeleine Guitty, Paul Manson, Georges Melchior, Delphine Renot, and Henry Gallet. Note that Louis Feuillade was one of the most important early French directors! He directed Fantomas in 1913 and Les Vampires in 1915, and it is estimated that he directed over 800 movies! More important, he is credited with being the first to direct "thrillers", and it is clear that Alfred Hitchcock, Fritz Lang, and many other directors were students of Feuillade. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Louis Feuillade French movie, and that it was made the same year he made his first Fantomas movie! Also note that this French two-panel measures 59 1/2" x 85 1/4" [151 x 217 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Finally, note that this French two-panel was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Condition: good to very good. There is darkening on parts of many folds (more so in the bottom half of the poster), and there is staining on the back of the left of the upper part of the bottom section (where the chair is), because this is the part that was on the outside when it was fully folded. There are also some paper tape reinforcements on the back of some folds. In spite of these defects, the poster has survived in pretty nice condition, especially considering it is over 100 years old! Still, please bear in mind the above defects and look at our super-sized defects before bidding on this very rare and historic poster. Learn More about condition grades
