A 1947 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36" [36 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Zane Grey's Western Union, the 1941 Fritz Lang historical cowboy western (based on the novel by Zane Grey; about the early days of the legendary telegraph company, and specifically their connecting Omaha and Salt Lake City with telegraph wires, and the great difficulties they encounter in doing so) starring Robert Young, Randolph Scott, Dean Jagger, Virginia Gilmore, John Carradine, Slim Summerville, Chill Wills, and Barton MacLane (as Jack Slade). Note that legendary director Fritz Lang was certainly not known for westerns, but he had had success directing The Return of Frank James the year before this, and this was his second western (and years later, he would do one more, Rancho Notorious)! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had minor wear on the foldlines and many smudges and scuffs scattered throughout, but they are not very noticeable in the images of the stars. There were many stains, small tears, and tiny areas of paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
