Clare Boothe Luce's Margin for Error, the 1943 Otto Preminger pre-World War II (WWII) Nazi crime murder mystery comedy melodrama ("The most laughs, the most thrills, the most love of the year!"; based on the play by Clare Boothe Luce; about the wife of an anti-Semitic German Nazi consul to the U.S. in pre-World War II New York, and his beautiful wife, and when the consul is murdered, suspicion falls on his wife, but a Jewish policeman from Brooklyn helps exonerate her of the crime) starring Joan Bennett, Milton Berle, Otto Preminger, Carl Esmond, and Howard Freeman. Note that this play was performed on Broadway prior to World War II, with Preminger directing himself in one of the lead roles. In 1943, he directed himself in the movie version, but the movie was very out of date by that time! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
