An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Inspiration (released in some countries as "Yvonne"), the 1931 Clarence Brown Paris model romantic prostitution melodrama ("A Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer All Talking Picture"; based on the novel 'Sapho' by Alphonse Daudet; about a French streetwalker who finds true love with a handsome young man, but she leaves him because of her past, and then she returns to him, but he learns about her past and leaves her, and that makes him afraid she will kill herself, and he returns to her, but then she leaves him again!) starring Greta Garbo, Robert Montgomery, Lewis Stone, Marjorie Rambeau, and Judith Vosselli. Note that there was a French language version of this movie filmed simultaneously, but with a different cast (with Mary Marquet in the lead role), but that movie was made during the time MGM and Pathe had a co-production deal, and it fell apart at exactly this time, and Pathe sued MGM over this film and won, so it was not released until 1934, three years after it was made.

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this title card, and it sold for $416 in "good to very good" condition! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good. The card has a 1 1/2" tear in the middle of the left border. It has pinholes in the blank corners and in the center of each blank border, with one in the middle of the card. It has a scuff mark that starts in the "P" of the title and continues through the next few letters, and extends through the background below into the MGM box. It has light water stains in the bottom left blank corner and some faint smudges around the edges, with a few in Garbo's chin. The card has never had any restoration, and certainly, it is very "restore-able", but bear the above in mind before bidding on this very rare card.
