An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures 30" x 40" [76 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Gimme Shelter, the 1971 Charlotte Zwerin, Albert Maysles, & David Maysles rock 'n' roll (rock and roll) music concert documentary ("The music that thrilled the world... and the killing that stunned it!"; "The fantastic Rolling Stones concert at Altamont, California where 300,000 young Americans went wild."; "Altamont changed a lot of people's heads") featuring The Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Ike and Tina Turner, The Grateful Dead, and Dick Carter. This is the movie that covered the Altamont concert where the Hell's Angels were invited to be in charge of security. They were responsible for the brutal beating and stabbing death of Meredith Hunter, an 18 year old black African American man. There were also three accidental deaths. The movie shows performances, violence, Grace Slick and Mick Jagger's attempts to cool things down, close-ups of young listeners (dancing, drugged, or suffering Angel shock), and a look at the Stones later as they watch concert footage and reflect on what happened. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this British quad, which has a completely different photo montage image! We once auctioned a special U.S. half-sheet that had this image, and that poster sold for $500! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had small paper loss in the center of the top blank border and in the left of the top blank border, and it had some pinholes scattered in that area. It also had a few minor creases scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was backed, and after it was backed, someone lightly folded the linen down the left 10" and the right 10". We have no idea why they would have done this, but it is far more noticeable from the back, where you can see an indication that the linen was folded, rather than from the front, where you can only see the slightest indication that it was folded. This incredible poster will display really well on the new owner's wall Learn More about condition grades
