An Original Vintage Theatrical Swedish Movie Poster (measures 33" x 47 1/4" [84 x 120 cm]) (Learn More) Cavalcade, the 1933 Frank Lloyd (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) England family historical melodrama ("Fox Film's Picture of the Generation"; "Great as life itself!"; "Thrilling entertainment titanic in its power!"; based on the play "by Noel Coward"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; it follows a single English family from 1899, when the father is off to fight in the Boer War, and it follows the family through its trials and tribulations right up to the then-present day of 1933) starring Diana Wynyard (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Clive Brook, Una O'Connor, Herbert Mundin, Beryl Mercer, Margaret Lindsay, John Warburton, Frank Lawton, Ursula Jeans, Douglas Scott, Ann Shaw, Will Stanton, and Betty Grable (in an uncredited role). Note that while this movie is set in England and has an English cast (and was based on Noel Coward's play), it was a Hollywood movie produced by William Fox! It won one of the first Best Picture Oscars, and first release posters from it are extremely rare. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Rumert Important Added Info: Note that this is a very rare Swedish "two-panel" poster (it is nearly twice the size of a regular Swedish poster, but is printed on a single sheet). We have previously sold one other Swedish poster that was close to this size, and that was for "Lloyd's of London", but that poster had a vertical orientation. It seems likely this was something they reserved for really major movies, and they are definitely incredibly rare (and of course, all first release posters from "Cavalcade" are extremely rare, because those who collect on Best Picture winners have been looking for Cavalcade posters forever!). Condition: good to very good. The poster has tears and small paper loss in the top, right, and bottom borders. It has an uneven 12" tear in the middle of the left border that was repaired with tape from the back, with a 1" tear in the upper left border. It was folded down the middle and there is some separation and tears along that fold, and someone put tape on the back of them. The poster's defects are the sort that are easily corrected through restoration. After a simple linenbacking, the poster will look fantastic! Learn More about condition grades
