An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) We're Not Married!, the 1952 Edmund Goulding romantic wedding marriage comedy ("What embarrassment when we discover - 'We're Not Married!"; "It's a riot... When all of us discover 'We're Not Married'"; "It's the story of the six married couples who woke up to find - they really weren't married at all!!!"; "From a story by Gina Kaus & Jay Dratler"; the old story of married couples [six in this case] who discover they are not legally married, and of course, the possibility of remaining unmarried is very pivotal in each of their lives, especially in the case of Marilyn Monroe, who was just crowned "Mrs. Mississippi" and was about to enter the "Mrs. America" contest, but because she is now "single", she can now enter the far more prestigious "Miss America" contest instead!) starring Ginger Rogers, Fred Allen, Victor Moore, Marilyn Monroe (in an early role; notice her low billing!), David Wayne, Eve Arden, Paul Douglas, Eddie Bracken, Mitzi Gaynor, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Louis Calhern, James Gleason, Paul Stewart, Jane Darwell, and Harry Antrim NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, either because the restorer did not do a very good job, or because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had paper loss at the crossfolds and creases, tears, and areas of paper loss on parts of some foldlines, and pinholes, tears, and areas of paper loss in parts of the borders. The poster was not that well backed, because you can see signs of the above general defects and the restoration of the defects (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects). I would think few collectors would want to display it as it is, without someone performing some additional restoration. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid.
