A 1951 Re-Release (re-titled "Phantom of Paris" for this re-release) Theatrical Unfolded Movie Paper Banner (measures 24" x 82" [61 x 208 cm]) (Learn More) Edgar Allan Poe's The Mystery of Marie Roget, the 1942 Phil Rosen Universal Paris France crime horror murder mystery thriller (based on the Edgar Allan Poe story; this was Poe's sequel to "Murders in the Rue Morgue", so naturally, Universal tried to make a sequel to their own version of the earlier movie, and they used some of the actors who had appeared in "The Wolf Man" the previous year; this movie concerns the disappearance of a woman and the subsequent murder; one of the highlights of the movie is Maria Ouspenskaya doing much scene stealing as she had in "The Wolf Man") starring Maria Montez (in the title role as Marie Roget), Patric Knowles, Maria Ouspenskaya, John Litel, Edward Norris, Lloyd Corrigan, and Nell O'Day NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare paper banner. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning! Note also that the photo on this paper banner was printed on a separate sheet and then attached to that area of the banner (see our image - this was commonly done with paper banners, and some 30x40s and 40x60s of this period). This is how the poster was created. Note finally that this poster is very long, but because it is not very wide, it can be sent in a regular size tube. However, it can NOT be combined with other rolled posters, and must be either sent by itself (or combined with other items that are exactly like this). Please bear this in mind before bidding on this poster. Condition: good to very good. The poster has a number of creases and scuff marks scattered in various areas, slightly less than typical of paper banners of this time period. Overall the rare banner and its inset image is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
