An Original Vintage Theatrical 11" x 14" Movie Still (mounted on a heavy board that measures 13 1/2" x 18") (Learn More) Greta Garbo was a legendary romantic Swedish actress from the 1924 to 1941 (she retired at the age of 35, still extremely popular, and lived in seclusion for many decades afterwards, living by her trademark expression, "I want to be alone"). Almost all other major leading ladies of the mid 1920s had their careers diminished or ruined by the coming of sound, but not Garbo, all the more remarkable because she was not native English-speaking and she had a strong accent. She first rose to prominence in a movie in her native Sweden, and then attracted the interest of Hollywood, but she would only sign a contract if they would sign her director as well, and MGM agreed! Some of her movies include: Ninotchka (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Queen Christina, Grand Hotel, Anna Christie (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Romance (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), and Camille (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film). Garbo passed away in 1990 at the age of 84. Condition: good to very good. Many years ago (possibly in 1928), someone took this 11x14 still and mounted it onto a heavy board that measures 13 1/2" x 18" and added an identifying snipe below it. The still is firmly glued to the board, but a professional could remove it. There are stains and pinholes in the backing board, but the still itself has very few defects, just some tiny stains and smudges around the edges. The new owner of this still might choose to have it removed from the board, leave it as it is, or have most of the board trimmed away. In any event, please do not bid on this still unless you can accept that it is glued to a board or are willing to pay to have it removed from the board. Learn More about condition grades
