Artist: Tom William Chantrell Important Added Info: Note that there has been much discussion in the movie poster hobby as to whether most of the style C "Star Wars" posters that exist (almost all of which do NOT have a rating box) were actually printed in 1977, or whether they were printed at a later date. Some people say that the posters were only printed for use in other countries (and were never printed in the U.S. in 1977), which is why they have no ratings box. But the discovery in 2000 of these style C test proofs negates that argument, because obviously at least some of the posters were intended to have a rating. It seems quite possible that after these test proofs were printed, it was decided not to use this poster in the U.S. at that time in 1977, and perhaps at a later time, maybe in 1978, a bunch of these style C posters, without the ratings box were printed (perhaps this WAS for use outside the U.S.). Note also that this is a very rare uncut printer's test poster (often referred to as a "printer's proof")! Before a poster was printed in large quantities, a limited number of "test" posters were created to be shown to people in various departments. Often they would leave the color chart on the left edge of many of the posters, which added an extra inch to the width of the poster (which explains why the poster measures 28 1/2" x 41" [72 x 104 cm]). Once these printer's test posters were shown to the people in a position to "OK" them, there would be a full print run of the posters. Not only is a printer's test poster far more rare than a regular poster, but it is also 100% genuine as there is no fear of purchasing a reproduction! What IS linenbacking?
