An Original 1949 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian One-Panel (known in Italy as a "2 Fogli") Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 55" [99 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) The Verdict, the 1946 Don Siegel (his first significant feature film as a director!) England crime murder mystery thriller ("Prepare to tell them!"; "The suspense is killing!!!"; "From a Novel by Israel Zangwill"; about a Scotland Yard Superintendent who causes a man to be executed, and then evidence turns up that exonerates him, and the man leaves his job in disgrace, and then he gets involved in helping solve another murder, against his will) starring Sydney Greenstreet, Peter Lorre, Joan Lorring, George Coulouris, and Rosalind Ivan. Note that people who review this movie all comment on the cleverness of the plot, the quality of the acting, especially from Greenstreet and Lorre, and they also mention the quality of direction, especially surprising, because this was at the start of Don Siegel's career, and it is easy to see why he went on to many great successes! Artist: Luigi Martinati Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this first release Italian one-panel (it is dated 1949, and the movie opened in Italy in 1948, but this is almost certainly from the same continuous first release)! Also note that Italian posters from the first few years after World War II are among the most rare posters there are! Apparently, there were still major paper shortages in Italy, and few posters were printed, and most were recycled. This is an extremely rare first release Italian poster from 1947. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at just a few crossfolds and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of just a few folds, with tiny pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
