An Original Vintage Theatrical Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) James M. Barrie's Peter Pan, the 1924 Herbert Brenon & Roy Pomeroy silent juvenile fantasy pirate adventure thriller ("The story of the boy who would not grow up."; "Peter Pan is the little boy who wouldn't grow up. If you want to visit him take the second turn to the right and go straight on 'till morning. There, in the Never Never Land, you will find him with the Fairies, the Indians, the Pirates and everything dear to the heart of a boy."; based on the classic play by J.M. Barrie; the first of many movie versions; about a boy who never grew up and who took runaway boys to a "Never Land") starring Betty Bronson (in the title role as Peter Pan; in her second credited movie role; thanks to Barrie's contract, the author had star approval, and after nine months he selected then-unknown Bronson!), Mary Brian (as Wendy), Jack Murphy, Philippe De Lacy, Virginia Brown Faire (as Tinker Bell), Ernest Torrence (as Captain James Hook), Edward Kipling (as Smee), and Anna May Wong (as Tiger Lilly). Note that because Peter Pan was a boy who never aged, he was always played by adult females of small stature, including in this movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that 1924 movie posters from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet (26 years ago), and Australian daybill and a window card from this movie (and NO other movie posters - only lobby cards and stills) until we received this wonderful half-sheet! Note that this poster is very old, and it would not make sense to attempt to roll it, as the paper is fragile and rolling it would surely damage it. Therefore we must be sent in a very large flat package. Please bear that extra shipping cost in mind BEFORE placing a bid on this poster! Condition: good. The poster was once folded down the middle. There are brown dot stains in the center, including in the center of Torrence's body, but not his face. There are brown dot stains scattered around the edges, more so in the center of the top and bottom borders. There are some pinholes around the edges, with paper loss in the bottom right blank corner, caused by rough removal of the pins. The poster had a few tiny tears in the left and right borders, and someone put tape on the back of those. There are scratches in the upper right of Bronson's cheek and some smudges in the upper right background. Obviously, this incredibly rare poster can be restored and it is likely that much or all of the staining can be removed chemically, and the poster has bright colors, so it will display wonderfully after restoration.
