You likely will be surprised to learn he started his show business career as a teenager as a dancer and singer, performing in stage revues! He switched to dramatic parts and went to Hollywood in 1939 for a part in Goodbye, Mr. Chips, but he refused to sign a contract, and he returned to England, where he became one of the most popular English actors of the 1940s and 1950s, and he successfully transitioned from leading roles to character parts without any problem at all. He is the father of actresses Hayley Mills and Juliet Mills. He passed away in 2005 at the age of 97. Important Added Info: Note that two of these stills are in color. NOTE: On rare occasions, large lots of 9 or more black-and-white stills like this one can sometimes have one or more duplicated stills, but since we only picture 8 of the stills, if there are duplicates, they are likely not pictured. We try to note when this happens, but we may not catch it every time, so please do not bid on such lots unless you can accept this possibility. Condition: good to very good. Some of the stills have varying degrees of pinholes and/or a few other noticeable defects, but most of the stills are in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
