An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) The Great Waltz, the 1938 Julien Duvivier fictionalized biographical romantic dance musical ("Your beating heart, your pounding pulse will tell you it's the most exciting musical love story ever told!"; "Life is a romance of wine, women and song"; an incredibly loose biography of Johann Strauss, the Austrian "Waltz King") starring Luise Rainer (as Strauss' wife), Fernand Gravey (billed as "Fernand Gravet"; as Johann Strauss), Miliza Korjus (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Hugh Herbert, and Lionel Atwill. Note that this is the movie with the classic scene showing Gravet and Miliza Korjus (playing a woman Strauss had a long affair with, and in real life she was an opera singer who only appeared in a couple of movies) riding in the Vienna woods in a carriage and composing the classic "Tales of the Vienna Woods" off of the sounds they hear around them! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this three-sheet was printed in the United States for use at theaters with Spanish speaking audiences (this was done most by MGM, starting in the 1930s, but it was done by the other major studios as well, and often the posters would have the exact same image as the English language poster, except the writing would be in Spanish, and on posters from the 1930s and 1940s there would be an added "Toda en Espanol!", meaning "Entirely in Spanish!", printed within the image). Sometimes posters from the 1960s or later will have the word "SPANISH" printed in the bottom border (or sometimes stamped on the back of the poster). What IS linenbacking?
