An Original Vintage Theatrical Jumbo Movie Window Card (WC; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Camille, the 1937 George Cukor romantic love triangle melodrama ("Greta Garbo loves Robert Taylor in Camille"; set in France and based on the play and novel 'La Dame aux Camelias' by Alexandre Dumas Fils; about the French son of a noble family who is a law student and he falls for a beautiful prostitute; she reforms for him and they live in poverty, but the young man's father feels disgraced, and he convinces the woman to give up his son, and she returns to her former life, and he, not knowing what his father did, meets her publicly and denounces her, but she does not enlighten him, and at the climax, she dies holding a gift he gave her) starring Greta Garbo (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Marguerite 'Camille' Gautier), Robert Taylor, Lionel Barrymore, Elizabeth Allan, Jessie Ralph, Henry Daniell, Lenore Ulric, Laura Hope Crews, and Rex O'Malley. Note that there was a silent version of this made in 1927 starring Norma Talmadge. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this jumbo window card, and it was only in "fair" condition! Also note that this jumbo window card is printed on a heavy paper stock, similar to that of regular window cards of this period. It could not possibly be rolled, and it must be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30", so bear this added expense in mind before bidding on this poster. Condition: good to very good. The card has darkened somewhat and it is somewhat uneven, because something caused only a large part of the top blank area and the 3" directly below it to be exposed to whatever caused the darkening, whereas the rest of the poster was not exposed. You can look at our super-sized image and pretty clearly see what was darkened and what was not. There are some small faint stains and dot stains in the rest of the poster. There are some tiny nail holes around the edges. I would think many collectors could display and enjoy this card as it is, or certainly restoration can be performed. Please bear all of the above in mind before bidding on this card. Learn More about condition grades
