An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese Movie Poster (measures 20" x 28 1/2") (Learn More) Det Sjunde Inseglet (released in the U.S. in 1958 as "The Seventh Seal"), the classic 1957 Ingmar Bergman Swedish fantasy medieval plague metaphysical meaning-of-life-and-death melodrama ("One of the greatest and most powerful European films in a quarter of a century"; "The Story of a Challenge to Death") starring Max von Sydow, Bengt Ekerot (as Death), Gunnar Bjornstrand, Nils Poppe, Bibi Andersson, Inga Gill, and Ake Fridell NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are slightly noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "Pre-Restoration Defects & Quality of Restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster was a circular scuff line running around the man's face at lower right, as though someone drew a circle on paper that was laying on top of this poster. Otherwise, the poster had a few minor scuffs in the image and some very minor border wear. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well backed. The restorer did not attempt to do anything about the circular scuff line, but it is really not very noticeable or distracting at all. Learn More about condition grades
