He played a wide variety of roles in the 1920s and 1930s, but later in his career starred mostly in cowboy western movies. He had a very memorable final role in Ride the High Country, opposite Joel McCrea! Some of his other movie roles include: Seven Men From now, My Favorite Wife, The Tall T, and Ride Lonesome. Most people believe that he was a gay homosexual man, but because of the attitudes of the time, he had to "remain in the closet" (there are some who dispute that he was gay).
