An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French Four-Panel Movie Poster (4p; measures 90 1/2" x 124 1/2" [230 x 316 cm]; printed in 4 pieces) (Learn More) Zaza, the 1939 George Cukor France romantic love triangle melodrama ("From the play by Pierre Berton and Charles Simon"; about a sexy singer in a French music hall who falls in love with a married aristocrat; Colbert plays a part that five years before would surely have been played by Marlene Dietrich!) starring Claudette Colbert (in the title role as Zaza), Herbert Marshall, Bert Lahr, Helen Westley, Constance Collier, Genevieve Tobin, Walter Catlett, and Ann Todd (not the famous actress, but a child actress with the same name, who was the fourth cousin of the wife of Abraham Lincoln!) This is an extremely rare French poster from during World War II. Virtually no French posters survive from during or right after World War II (mostly only some heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards! Note that this French four-panel measures 90 1/2" x 124 1/2" [230 x 316 cm], and it was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap. Condition: very good. There are some tiny faint stains on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded. There are some creases and several tears along the folds that were on the outside when the poster was fully folded.
