An Original 1946 (from the first release of this movie in Germany) Vintage German Film Program (measures 6" x 8 1/4" [15 x 21 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Hold Back the Dawn, the 1941 Mitchell Leisen romantic love triangle sham marriage melodrama ("Written by Charles Brackett and Billy Wilder from a story by Ketti Frings"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a Romanian gigolo who marries a naive American woman, to get his citizenship, planning on dumping her and re-joining his girlfriend, but then he falls in love with her!) starring Charles Boyer, Olivia de Havilland (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Paulette Goddard, Victor Francen, and Walter Abel. Note that both Olivia De Havilland and her sister, Joan Fontaine, were nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award in 1942, and Fontaine won for her performance in Suspicion. This further strained an already tenuous relationship between the sisters, and they never reconciled before Fontaine's death in 2013! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this program is from a special series of showings of American movies in the "American Zone" of West Germany beginning in 1945, and running for the next three years or so. Each of these special programs have "Published with approval of Military Government" printed on the back. In 1946, West Germany began having regular showings of American movies, and the same movies that were shown in these special showings between 1945 and 1948 were again shown beginning in 1946, so there would be two different programs for each of these movies, one like this, and one "regular" program issued later. Note that we have provided an image of all the pages of this 4-page program (we did this by opening it and laying it flat and photographing the front and back cover together, and the interior two pages together). This way, you see the entire program, and can well determine the exact condition of it from our super-sized image. But of course this means that the front cover appears in the top right of our image, but normally, the program would be folded down the center and you would view the cover by itself (and it will be sent folded as was originally intended). Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
