A 1919 Re-Release Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More)

The Broken Law, the 1915 Oscar Apfel silent gypsy family melodrama (a wild story of an English writer who discovers that he has a half-sister who is a gypsy; he joins her clan so that he can get to know her, and he ends up liking the gypsy life, and he stays, and he ends up becoming the head of the clan) starring William Farnum, Dorothy Bernard, Mary Martin, Bertram Marburgh, Richard Neill, and Nicholas Dunaew. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. Also, note that this movie was made by William Fox in 1915, the first year he was making movies in New Jersey. In 1917, he opened his Hollywood branch, and they either re-issued this movie in 1919, or possibly made a new version of it that year. We are calling the only item from this movie we have ever had (a glass slide) a 1919 re-release, because it says "A 1919 Version" on it, but it could be from a different 1919 version of the movie. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see!

Condition: good. There is a diagonal crack in the top left of the back pane that enters the "W" of "WILLIAM".
