An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Autographed Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (pbusta; measures 18 1/4" x 26 1/4" [46 x 67 cm]) (Learn More) The Girl Hunters (released outside the U.S. as "Operation FBI"), the 1963 Roy Rowland English mystery crime thriller ("Spillane is action!"; "Rough! Ripping! Raw!"; "Taut! Tough! Torrid!"; "Spillane") starring Mickey Spillane ("as Mike Hammer"; author of the source novel; unhappy with the previous screen portrayals of his pulp hero, he chose to play Mike Hammer himself!), Shirley Eaton (right before her role in Goldfinger!), Lloyd Nolan, Hy Gardner, and Scott Peters. Note that Mickey Spillane was a department store salesman in 1940 when he discovered he could sell stories for comic books, and he quickly wrote for all the major companies. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Air Force and became a fighter pilot. After the war, he wrote "I, the Jury" in 19 days, and it was published in 1947, and it sold 6.5 million copies in the U.S. alone. Its hero, Mike Hammer, a hard-boiled private eye, would appear in many more novels. Spillane would write for the movies, and he even played Mike Hammer in "The Girl Hunters" in 1963! Our consignor obtained the signature in person at a Ray Courts Hollywood collectibles show in the 1990s. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a Note that it is difficult to accurately date Italian posters, and some unmarked re-release posters can be extremely difficult to distinguish from first releases, so please bear that in mind before you place a bid. The poster was folded once vertically and it has creases along that fold. It has pinholes and tears around the edges, with creases and scuffs scattered throughout (see our image).
