An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Love On Toast, the 1937 E.A. Dupont (Ewald Andre Dupont) romantic comedy ("Based on a story by Richard Connell and Jane Storm") starring Stella Adler (billed as "Stella Ardler"), John Payne, Grant Richards, Kathryn Kane, Benny Baker, Isabel Jewell, and Luis Alberni. Note that Stella Adler was part of one of the most famous Jewish acting families ever, which included her parents Jacob and Sarah Adler, and her brothers Charles, Jay, and Luther. She was one of the people involved in the founding of the Group Theatre in 1931, and later married Harold Clurman, one of the founders. According to Marlon Brando, she was obsessed with becoming a traditional Hollywood leading lady, and had a nose job in 1937, and began acting under the name "Stella Ardler" in this movie, but she did not achieve the success in Hollywood she so wanted, and she pretty much quit acting in movies after that, except for a few minor roles. She became an acting teacher and was a mentor to the very young Marlon Brando, and was one of the early proponents of "The Method", a revised acting technique derived from, but different from, the method used at the Group Theatre in the 1930s. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good to fine. The slide does not have a cardboard holder, but rather there is black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of older glass slides. When we auction slides that have a cardboard holder, we provide a separate image of how the cardboard holder looks, but when we auction slides with the black tape (like this one) we only provide the scan of the glass slide image, because that really is about all there is to see.
