An Original Vintage Unfolded Stage Play Poster (measures 26" x 34" [66 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) The Little Minister, the 1897 stage play production ("The Success of the Century"; "'It is Mrs. Dishart! Yes!'"; "'Can a man like a woman against his will?'"; "'He's drinking tea with you!"; based on the novel by J.M. Barrie, who also wrote Peter Pan; produced by Charles Frohman) starring Maude Adams, R. Peyton Carter, Robert Edeson, Margaret Gordon, Wallace Jackson, and Eugene Jepson. Note that this book was written in 1891, and this was the very first stage play production of it! It was made into four silent movies between 1913 and 1922, and was made as a sound film starring Katharine Hepburn in 1934. If anyone knows more about this stage play, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 78 very rare posters (including 53 WWI and WWII posters and 18 stage play posters) that mostly date from 1888 to 1945. These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these 78 posters (which even includes a remarkable 1873 P.T. Barnum poster from his "Traveling World's Fair")! Note that in June of 2016, we auctioned around 100 posters that were from this same archive. The 78 posters we are currently auctioning represent most of the remaining posters from this remarkable find (we certainly wish there were lots more, but unfortunately there are not, so this is likely your last opportunity to acquire these great rarities!). Condition: fair to good. The poster was never folded. It has paper loss in the bottom left corner extending into the background. It has a long Y-shaped tear starting in the middle of the lower left image and extending to the bottom border. Someone put tape on the back of that tear and also on the back of all the borders. Obviously, this poster can be restored, but bear in mind the cost of the restoration before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
