An Undated (probably 1940s) Re-Release Theatrical Unfolded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 28" x 41 1/4" [71 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Kidnapping Gorillas, the 1934 Ben Burbridge Africa wildlife animal documentary. Note that this film was released under several titles over the years, and is surely connected to the 1930 film Ingagi (perhaps even featuring footage from that film) and the 1937 film Love Life of a Gorilla (which may feature footage from this film). Information gathered from newspapers ads indicates that Kidnapping Gorillas was re-released in the 1940s but information about the film is difficult to find, and that is not helped by the fact that apparently Love Life of a Gorilla was also released as Kidnapping Gorillas at some point. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we had never auctioned any poster from any release of this movie under this title, and now we have been consigned both a 1940s re-release three-sheet and a 1940s re-release one-sheet, both with great images! We believe that both of these posters are likely from a 1940s roadshow release of this movie, where promoters would take the movie from small town to small town, showing them on weekends in midnight shows! Also note that, as noted above, this movie has a connection to the 1930 movie "Ingagi". The poster artist for the three-sheet from this re-release was almost surely inspired by the art from the Ingagi three-sheet, which also has an ape in a similar pose with a topless native woman with short hair (see our separate auction for that poster). This poster has a different ape holding a topless woman, but here she has long hair, and she does not really appear to be a "native"! Also note that this one-sheet measures 28" x 41 1/4" [71 x 105 cm].

Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never machine folded, but there are a few light creases scattered in the poster. There are some faint diagonal creases in the top right corner and small paper loss near the bottom of the left blank border. Otherwise, the poster is in really nice condition!
