THIS MAN IS NEWS insert

The image at right is provided for reference purposes and we do not we have it available for purchase, nor do we know of anyone who does!

This Man Is News, the 1938 (released in the U.S. in 1939) David MacDonald English newspaper journalism crime murder mystery ("He doesn't report the News... HE MAKES IT!"; about an English newspaper reporter who as a practical joke tells his editor a man was murdered, and before he can say he was joking the editor hangs up and runs the story, but then it turns out the man WAS murdered, only it happened a couple of hours AFTER the phone call, which makes the reporter the prime suspect in the murder!) starring Barry K. Barnes, Valerie Hobson, Alastair Sim, John Warwick, and Philip Leaver. Not that this English movie was clearly influenced by the very successful series of "Thin Man" movies that had started at MGM four years before, because it bears many similarities, including having the reporter and his wife working together and being lushes! There was a second movie with the same lead characters to following year, "This Man In Paris". Movie paper from either of these titles is incredibly scarce, for unknown reasons!
