An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 9 3/4" Movie Still (Learn More) Romeo and Juliet, the classic 1968 (released in the U.S. in 1969) Franco Zeffirelli (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English/Italian romantic tragedy ("No ordinary love story...."; "Paramount Pictures takes great pride and pleasure in presenting to the American public the return of the greatest love story of all time."; "This 'Romeo & Juliet' is no ordinary love story"; "Screenplay by Franco Brusati and Masolino D'Amico"; a production of the classic Shakespearian play; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Olivia Hussey (in the title role as Juliet), Leonard Whiting (in the title role as Romeo), Milo O'Shea, Michael York (as Tybalt), John McEnery (as Mercutio), Pat Heywood (as the nurse), Natasha Parry (as Lady Capulet), and Robert Stephens (as the Prince). Note that Hussey was 16 and Whiting was 17 when the movie was made, making them the youngest performers ever to professionally play Romeo and Juliet! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still measures 8" x 9 3/4", but it does not appear to be trimmed. Also note that a paper snipe was glued to the back of the still, and then folded over to the front. Normally, this was done rather than gluing the snipe to the back, so that the snipe could be unfolded and the still could be displayed with the snipe unfolded, which would let moviegoers read the information on the snipe in the lobby. However, this snipe was glued on so that some of the written portion is only readable when the snipe is folded over the bottom of the still, which slightly defeats this purpose (although one can see the top of the still and the snipe at the same time, which could not be done if the snipe was glued on the back). This was done with many stills of the 1930s, but often, the snipes are either partially or completely lost, because it is easier for them to be torn off. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, THE SNIPE DOES NOT HAVE ANY EFFECT ON THE FRONT OF THE STILL! Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
