An Original Vintage World War II Poster (measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) You Can't Afford to Miss Either!, the 1944 U.S. World War II (WWII) War Bonds poster ("Buy bonds every payday") encouraging the public to continue to buy war bonds, and featuring Martha Sawyers art of a gunner with a Japanese airplane crashing in the background. Of course, the title of the poster refers to the need for pilots to have deadly accuracy when shooting down enemy planes, and that they need to be accurate every time, and drawing a connection to the public needing to not "miss" buying bonds on any payday! Artist: Martha Sawyers Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned two examples of this poster, one measuring 22" x 28" and one measuring 30" x 38". This is only the second time we have been consigned an example of the 22" x 28" version! The poster was placed on to a very thin linen backing, perhaps shortly after being printed. The purpose was to reinforce the poster, so that it would survive, when it was passed from location to location, and when it was put up on walls and taken down. The poster can be displayed and enjoyed exactly as it is! Condition: very good. The poster was in excellent condition prior to being mounted to the thin linen, which has 1" excess all around.
