An Undated (probably 1947) Re-release Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (measures 11" x 14") (Learn More) Cheers for Miss Bishop, the 1941 Tay Garnett school teacher romantic melodrama ("The woman you'll never forget! The love story you'll never forget! The picture you'll never forget!"; "From the novel 'Miss Bishop' by Bess Streeter Aldrich"; "Screen Adaptation by Stephen Vincent Benet"; about a woman who never marries and who becomes a teacher, and when she grows old, she feels she has "wasted" her life, but at the climax of the movie, a lot of her former pupils, now famous, return to tell her how much good she did them) starring Martha Scott (in the title role as Ella Bishop), William Gargan, Edmund Gwenn, Sidney Blackmer, Dorothy Peterson, Sterling Holloway, Donald Douglas, Marsha Hunt, Lois Ranson, and Mary Anderson. Note that United Artists was afraid that audiences would not respond to this story of a dedicated unmarried teacher, so they promoted it like a tawdry romance, with the lurid taglines "SHOULD I have loved the way I did? ...I offered my heart to him when he knew so much of love, and I knew so little." and "Shall I cast aside a lifetime of love - for one tawdry moment in a man's past?"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card! Learn More about condition grades
