An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Chang, the 1927 Merian C. Cooper & Ernest B. Schoedsack silent Thailand jungle adventure documentary ("Marvelous jungle melodrama!"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; about a peasant family in Siam [now Thailand] who live in a cleared area in the middle of a jungle, and they face endless problems from the wild animals that attack their domesticated animals, including tigers and leopards, but worst of all is the "chang", which is Thai for "elephant", because they sometimes stampede, and the movie shows a group of the men from the village who go out and herd up the elephants, and start to domesticate them!; the movie is not strictly a documentary, because most of the scenes were "recreated", but it seemed incredibly real to 1927 audiences) starring Kru, Chantui, Nah, and Ladah. When the producers of the movie Cooper and Schoedsack saw how much the public loved seeing authentic jungle scenes with wild animals, they hit on the idea of creating a fictional movie with the same setting, and that led to their creating "King Kong", but of course with the massive participation of Willis O'Brien. Note that original movie paper of any sort from this documentary is INCREDIBLY scarce! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: fine. This glass slide is in really excellent condition, and we feel that EVERY collector would be happy to own it. It IS possible it may have an extremely MINOR defect or defects, but nothing at all significant. We bet many dealers would call items in this grade "mint" or "near mint"!
