An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Finishing School, the 1929 Gus Meins silent slapstick comedy short ("one of the famous 'Mike and Ike' comedies"; based on a cartoon "By Rube Goldberg") starring Roger Moore (as Mike), and Ned La Salle (as Ike). Note that this was one of a series of comedy shorts from the Stern Bros. based on the Rube Goldberg cartoon. They were silly and slapstick, but were very popular in the late 1920s, and this was the 22nd entry in the series. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had small paper loss at the bottom crossfold and some extra creases along the bottom foldline and minor wear on the other folds. It had discoloration in the center of the bottom border and in the center of the top of the poster, likely caused by paper tape that was on the reverse. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and a talented restorer could touch them up without re-backing the poster).
