Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More) Isn't Life Terrible, the 1925 Leo McCarey romantic slapstick comedy short ("Some men can afford a vacation others are married."; "'What is this- a store or a slide-show?'"; produced by Hal Roach) starring Charley Chase (primarily remembered as a great silent comedian who appeared in 276 movies, most of them comedy shorts, Chase also directed 140 comedy shorts), Katherine Grant, Oliver Hardy (in an early solo appearance without Stan Laurel, as Charley Chase's brother-in-law!), Lon Poff, Leo Willis, Mary Kornman, Fay Wray, and Dorothy Morrison (she was the sister of Our Gang's Sunshine Sammy Morrison, uncredited as the "little black girl"). Note that star Charley Chase had previously worked with Oliver Hardy (he had been a major solo star in the 1910s as "Babe Hardy" in several "Fatty" comedies), and he brought him to Hal Roach. Chase had previously brought Stan Laurel to Hal Roach, and of course, it was there that the two met each other and formed their most famous comedy team (and they did not forget Chase, and included him in perhaps their best movie, "Sons of the Desert"). Finally, note that director Leo McCarey, who had directed some thirty comedy shorts in 1924 and 1925 prior to this one, would later go on to much bigger successes, including the classic "Going My Way"! Also note this poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: fine. The poster had separation down the center in the top one-third of the poster and you can see the light restoration in that area. Otherwise, the poster had only the most minor of restoration in the folds and around the edges. The colors in the pos. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
