5j547 JAWS OF THE JUNGLE pressbook R40s Africa, hell swoops from heaven, Jungle Virgin!

An Undated (probably 1940s and re-titled "Jungle Virgin") Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 4 pages). Also included is an ad supplement that has 2 pages (Learn More)

Jaws of the Jungle, the 1936 Eddie Granemann animal exploitation jungle adventure ("Stark Realism!"; "Demons of the wild on a rampage!"; "Fangs of death bared for the kill!") narrated by Cliff Howell and starring Teeto, Minta, Gukar, Walla (billed as "the comic chimpanzee"), and Agena (billed as "the rollicking honey bear"). Note that this film features much stock footage and topless natives, and is about villagers in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) fleeing from vampire bats (which were actually fruit bats).
Important Added Info: Note that this poster contains a partially unclothed woman, so we have placed a white bar over that area, for those who are bothered by such images. Of course, the actual poster does not have that white bar! Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of the pressbook, plus an image of a two-page spread from inside of the pressbook (we do NOT picture any supplements or heralds, if there are any included with this pressbook), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

UPDATED 8/23/2010: Note that a knowledgeable collector pointed out that this pressbook was from a 1940s re-release and NOT from the 1936 first release. Please do not bid thinking it is from the 1936 first release.

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. There are smudges and stains throughout the front cover of the pressbook and there is some tattering around the edges.
