Kapo, the 1959 Gillo Pontecorvo Italian/French/Yugoslavian World War II (WWII) military Nazi concentration camp escape melodrama ("Savage! Lustful! Shameless!"; "Violated Women"; "Women... Commanded to love in a land ruled by depraved men of a 'master race'! Women... Fighting for the attentions of men they hate-to survive! Women... Under the lash-waiting for the moment to revolt!") starring Susan Strasberg, Emmanuelle Riva, Laurent Terzieff, Didi Perego, and Gianni Garko. Note that director Gillo Pontecorvo assembled an international cast, including American Susan Strasberg and French Emmanuelle Riva. Seven years later, he directed the classic "Battle of Algiers".
