Ernest Hemingway's For Whom the Bell Tolls, the 1943 Sam Wood romantic Spanish Civil War adventure melodrama ("From the celebrated novel by Ernest Hemingway"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Gary Cooper (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Robert Jordan), Ingrid Bergman (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "as Maria"), Akim Tamiroff (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Pablo"), Arturo de Cordova, Joseph Calleia, Katina Paxinou (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; "as Pilar"), Vladimir Sokoloff, and Mikhail Rasumny

Important Added Info: Note that this is the first time we have auctioned a complete set of lobby cards from the first release of this movie!

Condition: good to very good. Most of the cards have smudges and tiny pinholes around the edges. The card with the art of Bergman and Cooper has a few light scuff marks scattered in various areas and a minor blank border tear at lower center. The card with art only of Bergman has a tack hole near center in her dress. The card with the man with the rocket launcher has pairs of staple holes around the edges of the image and the one below it has a tack hole bear center. Most of the defects of the rare complete set are border or edge defects only, and the set is otherwise in pretty nice condition and they have no tape whatsoever on the front or back, and they never have had any restoration of any kind!
