Complete Set of 8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (measure 11" x 14") (Learn More) Cool Hand Luke, the classic 1967 Stuart Rosenberg prison escape crime thriller ("The man... and the motion picture that simply do not conform."; "What we have here is a failure to communicate."; "It looks like Luke is communicating real good- with women... with men... like with just about everybody!"; "'Hell - that Luke is a real world-shaker!'"; about a hard headed inmate) starring Paul Newman ("Paul Newman just bugs the establishment as Cool Hand Luke"; nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; in the title role "as Cool Hand Luke", Lucas Jackson), George Kennedy (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Dragline), J.D. Cannon (as Society Red), Jo Van Fleet (as Arletta, Luke's mother), Robert Drivas (as Loudmouth Steve), Lou Antonio (as Koko), Strother Martin (as "Captain", the warden of the prison), Dennis Hopper (as Babalugats), Clifton James (as Carr), Wayne Rogers (as Gambler), Harry Dean Stanton (as Tramp), Morgan Woodward (as Boss Godfrey, "the man with no eyes", who has no dialogue at all, but who plays a very significant role), Joy Harmon (as "Lucille", the sexy girl washing the car), Cyril 'Chips' Robinson (as the black African American boy who helps Paul Newman escape), Jan Watson, and Susanne Benton (Watson and Benton only appear in the photo that Luke sends to the inmates of the prison to cheer them up!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: good to very good. Note that, for unknown reasons, cards from this classic movie have always been very difficult to find, and when they do turn up, they are almost always in much lesser condition. Perhaps it is because the paper stock seems to scuff very easily, or perhaps it is because the movie is so popular that the cards were used over and over again, but I have never seen great condition cards from this movie! All of the cards in the set offered here have some smudges, creases, or scuffs in the image areas, but less than on other sets I have seen. The card of Newman with the eggs has some black surface stains in the lower right of the image, and some surface paper loss in three of the four corners. There is a light crease running from the left edge for 6", in the lower left of the image. The card of Kennedy boxing with Newman has a light crease running from the left edge for 6", in the lower left of the image and a 3" crease running from Kennedy's chin through the chin of the man next to him. The card of the man with the rifle has a diagonal crease in the lower right corner running through Kennedy's face and a light horizontal crease running across the card 2" from the top (going into Newman's hair). The card of Newman playing poker has a light crease running from the left edge for 6", in the lower left of the image, a light vertical crease in the center of the card running through the lower half and a few small creases in the right center of the card, going in to the side of Newman's head. The card of Newman passed out has a light crease running from the left edge for 6", in the lower left of the image, a 4" crease through the hair of the man at bottom center and a 3" crease in the background at top center. The close up of Newman on the bed has many pinholes in each corner and many scuffs around the edges of the card. The card with Newman with the towel on his head has a tack hole in each corner and a few very light creases in the lower left of the image. The card of Newman on the train tracks has pinholes in the corners and a light crease running across the top of the card (extending into Newman's head, but barely noticeable) and a light crease in the lower right of the image. While these cards DO have defects, they are mostly the sort that are not very noticeable or distracting from any distance away, and these cards would look great framed on the wall!
