An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Roughneck, the 1924 Jack Conway silent romantic melodrama ("By Robert W. Service, author of 'The Spell of the Yukon'"; about a boy who grows up in difficult circumstances and he becomes a boxer, but he thinks he killed one of his opponents, so he has to go on the run to the tropics to avoid being arrested!) starring George O'Brien, Billie Dove, Harry T. Morey, Cleo Madison, and Anne Cornwall. Note that the one-sheet for this movie has a very odd image of Billie Dove painting a portrait of George O'Brien while very creepy people stare at them from outside a window! If anyone knows how this relates to this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. We have only previously auctioned two glass slides from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet, which is the one-sheet referenced above! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had diamond-shaped paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds, with small tears and areas of paper loss in the vertical fold between the top and middle crossfolds, and paper loss starting above the girl's hair and extending down the middle of her face. It had pinholes around the edges. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Given the poster's significant defects, the linenbacker did a really nice job of restoring the poster, but bear in mind all of the above before bidding on this poster.
