An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Chapter #3 (Prisoners of the Moon) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Brick Bradford: Amazing Soldier of Fortune, the 1947 Spencer Gordon Bennet science fiction (sci-fi) action adventure serial ("Based upon the King Features Syndicate's tremendously popular cartoon strip"; "Fiendish murder-trap!"; "A Columbia Serial"; "Another sizzling serial scoop... with another adventurer beloved by multi-millions of thrill fans!") starring Kane Richmond (in the title role "as Brick Bradford"), Rick Vallin ("as Sandy"), Linda Johnson ("as June"), Pierre Watkin ("as Salisbury"), Charles Quigley, John Merton, Noel Neill, and Wheeler Oakman. Note that this movie was based on a popular comic strip that debuted in 1933, which was written by William Ritt, a journalist, and drawn by Clarence Gray. It was pure science fiction fantasy, and it predated Flash Gordon by a year, but it never achieved the same kind of popularity in the United States, although it became quite popular in other countries, including Italy and France (where he was known as "Luc Bradefer", which is "Luke Ironarm"!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that a knowledgeable collector believes that Glenn Cravath created the art for this item. However, we cannot be 100% certain. If anyone has definitive proof such as signed original art, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that the one-sheets for this serial were originally printed with an NSS number and litho number in the bottom right. But after they were printed, someone decided to assign each chapter its own NSS number, so they overprinted each poster in the bottom right corner with that new NSS number (this would likely be true of all or almost all one-sheet posters for this serial). What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and some near to the crossfolds, and it also had a small area of paper loss 4" to the right of the middle crossfold. It had some tiny paper loss in the left blank border. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Any talented restorer could perform the needed restoration without re-backing the poster, or of course, it could be displayed as it is. Learn More about condition grades
