An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Man About Town, the 1939 Mark Sandrich romantic love triangle musical comedy (Benny is a producer who brings his show to London, and he ignores his girlfriend/star, and they get involved with a noble English couple in the same situation, and both females do their best to make their better halves jealous) starring Jack Benny, Dorothy Lamour, Edward Arnold, Binnie Barnes, Phil Harris, Betty Grable, Eddie 'Rochester' Anderson, E.E. Clive, featuring Matty Malneck & His Orchestra, and Monty Woolley. Note that the woman on the left of the one-sheet poster looks like it should be Betty Grable, but she was 7th billed and only appeared in a minor role, singing one song, so it has to be Binnie Barnes, who is the second female lead, and part of the romantic love triangle with Jack Benny and Dorothy Lamour. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: This was printed by Associated Displays Corporation which was a company based in New York City. Before it was discovered by noted poster dealer/historian Walter Reuben, collectors did not know the name of this company (and thought it to be located in the Midwest), and it is often referred to as the "other company" (and we will continue to refer to it that way, since collectors know it that way). From 1936 to roughly 1941, this company printed its own one-sheets and lobby card sets (and a very few inserts, half-sheets, three-sheets, 40x60s and stills) for three major studio movies (Warner Brothers, Paramount and United Artists, but no other studios). The items almost always feature a tiny legal disclaimer and cast credits only. The posters and lobby cards are from the original release of the movie, and almost always have completely different artwork from the regular studio release. They did this by combining elements from different film scenes onto one poster or card. Sometimes, "other company" posters have images that are the equal of those from the regular studio release posters. Condition: fair to good. There are many smudges, scuffs, and faint stains scattered throughout the card, with creases and pinholes in the corners.
