Date Sold 5/11/2014Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Exhibitor Magazine (measures 9 1/4" x 12 1/4" [23 x 31 cm]; 230 pages) (Learn More) Dynamo Anniversary Edition magazine ("The New Dynamo"), a special issue that has many pages, with a special 52-page full-color section on better quality paper which looks like a "traditional" studio yearbook, and then the rest of the magazine is black & white and has both a lot of history of 20th Century-Fox and more about the current movies. Some of the movies covered in the 52-page color section include State Fair, Nob Hill, Diamond Horseshoe, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Song of Bernadette, and many more. Note that this magazine was published in April 1945. Four months earlier, in December of 1944, Fox had published a much less elaborate version of the same issue, this time measuring 11 1/2" x 15 1/2", but having 128 pages, with no color pages at all. It has some of the same material as this magazine, but also a lot of different material. Because of the color section, we call this magazine a "campaign book" (see below), while we call the other version an exhibitor magazine (because of the lack of color). Note that this magazine is officially a special issue of "Dynamo" magazine, which was a 20th Century-Fox studio publication. We don't know when Fox started publishing this magazine, but since the earliest one we have seen is from 1944 and says "Vol XIV, No. 9", we would imagine it started in the early 1930s. We know that most issues of Dynamo were small (both in size and number of pages) without color, but they made several deluxe special issues, including this one. When these special issues are large with many pages, we call them "campaign books", because they clearly took the place of the studio yearbook that year (and the covers indicate that). Important Added Info: Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and also pictures of one or more interior two-page spreads (but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine. Please realize that there were only a few ads in each magazine, and that the bulk of each magazine is taken up by stories about current productions and other information of interest to theater owners (and I don't know that this information can be found anywhere else or that it has been reproduced in any book since its first publication!). Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: very good to fine. There is minor wear around the edges of the covers. Learn More about condition grades
