Date Sold 4/8/2018Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Herald (measures 3 1/4" x 6" [8 x 15 cm]; 6 pages) (Learn More) a 1940 local theater herald advertising the complete program starting Monday, October 28th at the Miami Playhouse in New York City, comprised of the following movies: The Eagle (starring Rudolph Valentino), Plunder (the final chapter of the Pearl White serial), Fighting it Out (a Hoot Gibson western), and finally, "A Charlie Chaplin Comedy Hit" (surely one of his silent shorts, but they used an image of him from Modern Times on the brochure). They also announced their "next attractions", which were Brigham Young (the 1917 version), The Mormon Maid, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (starring Lon Chaney Sr.), and His People. Apparently, the Miami Playhouse was one of the very first New York City "revival" theaters (perhaps the first?). In 1940, they were showing the above movies (likely changing the program once a week). We don't know how well they did, or how long they were in business, but we suspect this was a short lived experiment! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
