Artist: Michel Gerard Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare French poster from right after World War II, which we have never auctioned before! Virtually no French posters survive from during or right after World War II (mostly only some heavy stock lobby cards, and even those are rare). Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases, tears, and tiny paper loss on many parts of some folds. It also had smudges and scuffs scattered in the bottom title area, with an oval stain above the "AN" of "AMANTS", and a smaller oval stain above the "TO" of "NEWTON". Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
