An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]) (Learn More) Captain America, the 1944 Elmer Clifton & John English Marvel Comics (at the time known as "Atlas Comics"!) comic book superhero crime fighting fantasy serial ("Based on the Character appearing in Captain America Comics"; "A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters") starring Dick Purcell (in the title role as Captain America; he died just a few months after shooting finished), Lorna Gray, Lionel Atwill, Charles Trowbridge, George J. Lewis, and John Hamilton. Note that this was the very first Marvel Comics character to be turned into a movie, and we don't know how faithful the adaptation was (in the movie, Captain America uses a gun, and we don't remember him ever doing that in the comics!). It has a summary of the serial and summaries of each chapter, with scenes from each chapter. Mathis also printed re-creations of original serial pressbooks from the 1930s and 1940s, and sometimes these tribute pressbooks are mistakenly sold as originals. Note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and pictures of interior two-page spreads (including the table of contents page if there is one; but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!).
