Date Sold 9/21/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Daybill Movie Poster (db; measures 13 1/4" x 30" [34 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) State Secret (released in the U.S. as "The Great Man-Hunt" and also under its original title), the 1950 Sidney Gilliat English crime suspense thriller ("Adventure sweeping across a continent!"; "Suddenly - they closed in and the chase was on..."; "He knew too much to live!") starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr., Glynis Johns, Jack Hawkins, Herbert Lom, and Walter Rilla. Note that this movie was released in the U.S. in 1950 under its original title of "State Secret". Apparently, someone at Columbia Pictures decided the movie needed a more descriptive (or more exciting) title, and so new posters were printed in 1950 which give it the new title of "The Great Man-Hunt", and they add "Formerly Titled State Secret", probably so that fans of the original title would not be confused. Since both posters have the same 1950 NSS number, we consider them both to be first release, even though the one poster precedes the other by a short amount of time.
