An Original 1950 (from the first release of this movie in Argentina) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29 1/4" x 43 1/4" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) Ladri di Biciclette (released in the U.S. in 1949 as "The Bicycle Thief" and in England as "Bicycle Thieves"), the classic 1948 Vittorio De Sica Italian neorealist melodrama ("Academy Award outstanding foreign language film 1949"; about a man and his son who search for a vital missing bicycle; most people rightfully consider this one of the handful of absolute finest movies ever made!) starring Lamberto Maggiorani, Enzo Staiola, Lianella Carell, Gino Saltamerenda, and Vittorio Antonucci. Note that the Italian title literally translates to "The Bicycle Thieves", but for unknown reasons, the movie became "The Bicycle Thief" when it was released in English-speaking countries! Important Added Info: Note that this poster has the small numbers "54/116" in the right of the bottom border. This LOOKS like an NSS number, but of course, Argentina didn't use NSS numbers, and we think that it is just a coincidence. It IS possible that this poster dates from 1954, or it could date from any time between 1949 and 1954 (it does reference the awards won by the movie, so it would surely date from 1949 or later). The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds and some tiny tears and tiny bits of paper loss on parts of some foldlines, with some pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges.
