Appears in Vintage Hollywood Posters 9 CATALOG SOLD OUT The image at right appears in the auction catalog we published as shown above and was sold long ago and we do NOT have it available for purchase. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Another New Paramount Talkartoon, the 1932 Fleischer Studios animated animation cartoon. Note that this poster features Fleischer's two biggest cartoon stars at this time, Betty Boop and Koko the Clown, along with Koko's sidekicks Bimbo the dog, and a baby (it would be a couple more years before Popeye would be introduced, and would eclipse both of these great early cartoon stars). It is rare to find cartoon posters that feature more than one major cartoon character on the same poster! Note too, that this poster pre-dates Betty Boop's individual cartoon series. She was introduced in the Paramount Talkartoon series, and quickly became so popular that she was given her own cartoon series. It is therefore quite possible that this poster is the first known depiction of Betty Boop on any movie poster, and quite possibly is the first movie poster on which she was ever depicted! Note that the poster is undated, but it has a litho number, and comparing this number to our massive database of litho numbers taken from actual movie posters, we can determine that this poster is almost certainly from 1932! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. The poster was displayed in a theater, and the blue ink of the poster has faded somewhat. It does not make the poster unattractive, and the only reason why I know this is true is because I once sold a completely unfaded example of this poster, and the blue was a darker color. I don't think someone would realize the poster was faded unless it was explained to them. The poster had many small tears and small areas of paper loss down the vertical foldline, including some in the blank white area of Boop's face (between her eyes and to the right of her mouth), and also some in her dress and legs. There was similar paper loss in the bottom two horizontal foldlines, but next-to-no paper loss in the top horizontal foldline. There was a diagonal tear in the top left corner and some paper loss in the top right corner. There were some creases, smudges, and tears around the edges of the poster. Obviously, this poster had real condition defects, but they were really expertly restored, and the poster now looks great (you can see some signs of the restoration along the foldlines, but it is not distracting, and the poster does not have a "painted over" feel to it). This poster is certainly far from an excellent condition example, but the excellent unrestored example of this poster I auctioned sold for $17,600, and this restored example may sell for a fraction of that amount!
